Ways to learn English

Since we are going to study in NUS, using English proficiently is an urgent task. Now, I want to share my strategies with you.
The barrier to learn English well is vocabulary. Only 26 letters make thousands of English words, and large amounts of them have similar or same meanings. That means reciting words is a tough assignment. So having a vocabulary book makes much sense. We can collect unfamiliar words the first time we read them onto the vocabulary book. The second step is to recite them at some planned time to pick out difficult ones to focus on. Over some time, your vocabulary is bound to be enlarged.
As is known, reading is always a useful way to learn a language well. It’s necessary for us to read more original books written in English, additionally, it also does good to learn more about English culture.
Furthermore, we need to practice our spoken English by communicating with local people frequently.
Following the suggestions given above, I believe our English can be improved.

  2. Only reciting words is far away from enough, however reading can help to handle collocations. As you said above ,I also believe it's a good strategy to combine them together!
