looking forward to May 5

This Friday, my parents will come to Singapore and will stay here for 6 days. I cannot control my excitement when I heard the news that my parents have already bought the air ticket. It has been nearly 6 months since I come here in Singapore. During the 6 months, although I have a video conversation with my parents almost every day, I still miss them so much, especially when I was alone. Frankly speaking, I had never remained in residence, even never gone to nightly self- study for a single day at school before. So this is the first time that I left the shelter from my parents and began a totally new form of life. You can imagine how hard it is for me to adapt to the completely new environment in another country at first. But in general, I really changed much during the last 6 month. In the study life abroad, I learned how to be independent. I had to manage my study as well as my daily life. I learned to how to handle the great stress and competition in study. Nobody will supervise my study anymore. Everything must be totally by my self-conscious. I also learned to bear solitude. Not every time I have friends to rely on. Sometimes I had to face some problems by myself. In this process, I think I became mature more or less.
Now there are only 4 days before my parents’ coming. I have made a lot of plan for them. I hope they can enjoy their 6-day staying here although it seems a little short for me. I will take them to the Singapore flyer, Sentosa, Singapore zoo and so on. And also I will let them have a taste of the delicious and typical food here. My parents have done so much for my on the road of my life. I hope I can make use of this opportunity to accompany with them and set their minds at rest about my life abroad. 5 May is coming soon and I am really looking forward to picking them up at the airport!!!

  2. Hope you will have a wonderful time with your parents. Family union is always one of the most fantastic events. I do agree with you that we should express our gratitude to our parents and never to be shy to express our love to them. Remember to bring them try the durian at bugis street!haha

  5. Dear Shuman,
I think you can tell your parents that they can be proud of you. Although this is your first time away from home, you've adjusted very well. You get along well with your classmates, you've been prompt in doing all your assignments, and you've done a good job working with your research group. I've found you to be a dependable, steady and likeable person. I hope you had a good time with your parents when they were here.
