I still remembered the moment I walk
through the check place. I was definitely astonished when I saw a monkey with
white head climbing on the tree which is within my reach. There are no fences
or glasses between me and the monkey. If the tree is lower, I would have touched
it. Moreover, I could see the orangutans walking through a pair of paralleled
wires to get back to its manmade house beyond the trunk. I found out that the Singapore
Zoo is an open type zoo that doesn’t have any iron made cages to isolate
animals from the nature. Without any sorts of artificial separating methods,
people have an easier access to the animals both visually and emotionally.
Besides, I also noticed that the zoo is
putting a lot of endeavor into making bonds between tourists and animals. To accomplish
this aim, the zoo had put forward some interesting plans like offered an
opportunity to have breakfast with orangutans. In addition, tourists are also
given the chance to feed kangaroos and ride the elephants, take photos with
parrots and orangutans. In most cases, we could see parents participate these
interesting programs with their young children. Surely, they seem to have a quite
enjoyable experience.
But what impress me most was the harmony
between animal and tourists. When we got to start our journey, there was only two
hours before the zoo closed. But in some popular spots like white tigers,
kangaroos and orangutans, it is still crowded. Though people can easily get to
touch the animals, nobody utilize the freedom to cross the fence to interfere the
animals’ lives and nobody feeds the animals with their own food. They all
solely observe the animals from the set distance. I think they are showing the respect
to the nature and themselves. Compared to human beings, the animals are much calmer.
Surely, they have been accustomed to these kinds of closeness.
I think the animals in the Singapore Zoo
are lucky for they were under caring from both the tourists and the zoo keeper.
I hope the Singapore Zoo can spread its interactive administration to the world
as soon as possible to let more people concern with the animals concern with our
earth.
Glad you enjoyed yourself at the zoo, Long Fei. But here's a question for you. Is it right that we put wild animals in enclosed spaces for our benefit?
ReplyDeletehow lucky you are to have such a chance to visit the Singapore zoo while on your service program!
ReplyDeleteit was extremely a good experience visiting the zoo but I agree with what Ms meena has said, we should not put the animals in reach just for the pleasure of the visitor. the most important thing that a zoo should do is to protect the animals and advocate visitor to protect animals.
