The phobia about making a choice

      This week the dicussion about the metaphor of life--life is a journey impressed me a lot. After class, I reflected on it a lot and started to figure out the choice we made at every phase of life. Recently we SM3 scholars are going to choose our major in the university and the decision point is coming nearer and nearer. However, I still cannot make a definit choice on what I'm going to learn in the next four years.  Hard as I tried to ask myself where my true interest lies in, the decision is still far away. Under this circumstance, I recall a phobia about making choice. By sharing the followings, I hope others, including myself, will always make a good choice with less hesitation.      
      Why do those people have that kind of attitude towards making a choice? There are mainly three reasons account for this phobia. The first reason is that, nowadays, more and more people are pursuing perfect. That's why they force themselves to weigh up every alternatives, make a multiple choice and imagine the result in a romantic way, being afraid of facing with the reality. The second reason is focus on the young generation who grew up in a well-developed society under the caring of parents. They are accustomed to obeying their parental guidance; in other words, the young generation depend more on their parents to make crucial decision for them, for fear of bearing the responsibilities of the consquent results by themselves as the decision maker. Finally, thanks to the great variety of alternatives for choosing, people who are lacking of experience may feel lost.        

　　Actually, people can take some effective methods to avoid the happening of this phobia, or we call it a therapy. To begin with, people  should develop a full-aspected knowledge of themselves, which can form a clear image of what do they really want so that they will know what to keep and what to give up. Moreover, we should know the essence of being the captain of our own life rather than count on the other kind of experts, which means it is of great significance for each person to shoulder the responsibilities, face the challenges and never regret. We should always remember that there's no 100% right choice in the world and the choice we made is the most appropriate one. 

      In closing, I hope people like me can overcome the nervousness caused by phobia and foster a positive attitude to the journey of life with confidence to not only conquer the setbacks but also make the rightest choice.
